Amba Press has signed an agreement with ACER Press, the publishing arm of the Australian Council for Educational Research - ACER, to acquire 38 of its educational titles.
The acquisition represents a natural alignment between two respected organisations with a shared commitment to evidence-informed education and supporting teachers, leaders, and learners.
Since 1997, ACER Press has been a trusted source of high-quality, research-based resources that strengthen educational practice. With its recent closure in June due to operational realignment, the transfer of these selected titles ensures that much of ACER Press’s work will continue to reach and inspire educators through Amba Press’s growing catalogue.
Established in 2021, Amba Press publishes contemporary, accessible resources that amplify the voices and expertise of Australian educators and thought leaders. The acquisition includes bestselling and influential titles by authors such as Vanessa Hamilton, Ken Rigby OAM, Dr Michael C. Nagel and Andrew Fuller, bringing together each author’s complete collection under one publishing house.
Among the titles are the award-winning Kit and Arlo Find a Way by Ingrid Laguna and Vanessa Hamilton, valued professional learning works by Professor Helen Timperley, Driving School Improvement by Pamela Macklin and Vic Zbar, as well as books from the acclaimed Leading Improvement, Creative Activities in Maths and Play Matters series.

Kimberley Veart, Director of Marketing and Communications at ACER, said: ‘We are so pleased that so many of ACER Press’s titles have found a new home with Amba Press. Their dedication to excellence, innovation and educator-led publishing mirrors the principles that have guided ACER Press for nearly thirty years. I’m confident that in Amba Press’s capable hands the valuable contributions of our authors will continue to reach educators and readers who rely on trusted, evidence-informed resources. It’s a wonderful outcome for the authors, the works, and the broader education community.’

The acquisition strengthens the availability of trusted educational resources for teachers, leaders and learners across Australia and New Zealand, ensuring the enduring reach and relevance of evidence-based publishing in education.
