LEON FURZE

GenAI in Education: 2025 Updates

A lot has changed since the release of ChatGPT in 2022. This session brings AI up to date with new advances in multimodal GenAI technologies, the most capable models from OpenAI, Meta, and other developers and recent changes to the laws and regulations which impact AI use in education. Through a mix of practical demonstrations and clear advice, the session will help educators understand the present and near future of GenAI.

DR SELENA FISK

Impact

Selena will explore how measuring true impact requires a holistic approach that combines both quantitative metrics and qualitative insights, emphasising that raw statistics alone cannot capture the full story of influence and effectiveness. She'll demonstrate how drawing from multiple data sources is vital for painting a complete picture of impact, whilst highlighting the important distinction that actions themselves are merely stepping stones to actual impact, rather than the final measure.

GLEN PEARSALL

Fast and Effective Assessment

This workshop explores strategies for quickly recognising student needs and then giving timely feedback - without being swamped by unnecessary marking. Drawing from his extensive classroom experience, Glen will share practical techniques for encouraging student self-assessment, refining questioning methods and implementing fast formative assessment strategies that both reduce teacher workload and improve student learning outcomes.

Day 2

Choose one presenter for your Day 2 workshops.

LEON FURZE

Practical Digital Strategy

The Practical Digital Strategy framework is being developed with schools across Australia to understand how digital technologies can be mindfully and effectively integrated into education. The framework consists of five areas: Leading, Learning, Thriving, Aligning, Adapting. Each area has specific and actionable tasks which can be taken on by different members of the school community, The Strategy focuses on reducing unnecessary technologies, aligning digital with the school's broader strategic plan, supporting learning and wellbeing, and being prepared for the future.

AMY GREEN

Wellbeing Leadership

Amy Green's workshop, based on her latest book Wellbeing Leadership, invites educators to lead a wellbeing revolution in their schools. Participants will explore the four essential qualities of a wellbeing-centred workplace and the eight characteristics that empower staff to feel, work, team, and lead well. This session will challenge you to rethink your school's systems and processes, encouraging bold action to create a thriving school culture that truly supports both staff and students.

GLEN PEARSALL

Everyday Classroom Management

So much of the theoretical advice teachers are given on dealing with student behaviour doesn’t survive the rigors of real classrooms. In this workshop, Glen Pearsall explores classroom-tested strategies that are effective and easy to implement - even during hot Friday afternoon double lessons!
