Amba Press is excited to announce that we have signed a new teacher education book from Celia Di Iorio and Margherita Ghezzi, entitled Keeping up with teaching: How to survive and thrive as a 21st century teacher and set to release in 2024.
The book draws upon Celia and Margherita's (Marghi’s) extensive experience in the field of education and has a clear objective; to focus on improving initial teachers’ wellbeing so that teachers and students can be happier in the school environment. It highlights the importance of recognising teachers as individuals distinct from their profession, with the intention of improving the overall quality of the teaching profession. Authors, Celia and Marghi have worked and taught together over the years.
Celia is a qualified Primary School Teacher with a Master of Education in Student Wellbeing. She has over 23 years of teaching experience both face to face and online. More recently Celia has been involved in leading, managing and shaping the overall strategy, development, design and delivery of the Professional Experience aspect of several online ITE courses in the Higher Education sector. Drawing on her communication, interpersonal, organisational and leaderships skills, Celia cultivates supportive learning environments guided by policies and frameworks, standards and goals.
Marghi holds 30 years’ combined experience in the primary, secondary and university sectors. A qualified schoolteacher, published author, and academic educator, Marghi also worked as an educational publisher and an ACARA curriculum writer. Marghi started her journey in online higher education in 2015 and since then, she has become extremely passionate about hybrid ITE programs as they allow a wide range of diverse students, many from disadvantaged backgrounds, to follow their passion and become teachers. She currently leads the hybrid delivery of a Master of Teaching (Primary), which includes in-school placements. Marghi still teaches in a range of ITE degrees, both online and on-campus, which allows her to actively mentor pre-service teachers through their academic and placement journeys. Marghi defines herself a ‘passionate lifelong learner’ and she is currently a PhD candidate at Griffith University.
Keeping up with teaching offers initial graduate teachers the opportunity to discover strength-based strategies strongly aligned to wellbeing. Each chapter will begin with a lived experience of an educators’ personal story, from which the educator and author will investigate key learnings and draw possible solutions and strategies for survival and progress, should the reader encounter similar challenges. Keeping up with teaching hopes to encourage initial graduate teachers to prioritize their wellbeing, fostering a positive environment for both educators and students.
