We are excited to announce Joanne Casey is joining the Amba Press list to publish her book, Leading with the Social Brain in Mind in July 2023.
Joanne Casey is an education practitioner who works in a range of contexts to support reform agendas that build sustainable practices over time. Her focus remains on improved outcomes for all students. She understands schools are complex environments requiring flexible but research-based approaches to achieve improved outcomes for those they serve.
In Leading with the Social Brain in Mind, Joanne explores how relationships and leadership work together in school education. Specifically, it exhorts system and school leaders to investigate how social brain theory affects the unintended results of their own complex organisational environments.
It takes a lot of skill to lead collaboration in a school, especially in ones where many institutional practices and structures are so widely accepted that they are rarely questioned. Schools are complex organisations where systems of self awareness allow leaders to recognise and map their context to derive the distinct information, experience and abilities needed in their school.
Therefore, this book is recommended for readers who want to understand the relationships between school leadership, complex organisations and collaboration.
